December Flair

The Village is bustling with shoppers and such. The deals are here to be found. It is that time of year when one is enjoying the holiday season.  Looking for a gift with staying power, The Inn has gift certificates for that special someone.

I was thinking about a nice lunch at Herringbone or just munching on some street taco's from Puesto while shopping at Banana Republic and sticking my head in The Gap for that special someone. I am working my way down the Christmas List. Talbots, Geppettos, Ralph Lauren and Rangoni Shoes have very decorative displays this time of year and offer a unique spin on that gift you got to have!

Thinking about the Holiday Parade makes me laugh and be giddy. The La Jolla locals really do it right. They put on a nice parade for the local flair. Hennessey's Tavern has indoor/outdoor seating and is really close for a nice breakfast, Bloody Mary or that cold brew.

I am glad the holiday season is here. Our renovation is well on its way to completion at the hotel and will make many out of town repeat guests happy ones. I guess having your business, hotel, restaurant, shops, boutiques and art galleries in La Jolla has its perks. Wishing all a wonderful December to remember.

Change is in the air La Jolla

November 25, 2014

What can I say the hotel is going through changes and while I have been a part of The Inn by the Sea for the past twenty two years, this renovation seems the most rewarding. The current management has a keen eye for colors and textures the result is a breathtaking seascape chic contemporary approach. The sleeping rooms seem more inviting and our location in La Jolla is so desirable.

When I think of how the hotel looked back in 1992 and how far we have come is somewhat overwhelming.  I remember a few years ago while renovating the lobby thinking "wow" now it is really popping. They put in a natural waterfall falling from the ceiling and the Zen look is serene and peaceful.  Then last year we did the overhaul on the air/heat which made for very happy guests controlling their own in room air/heat control destiny.

La Jolla has been prone to change in the past, mostly in retail and restaurants. The Village is vibrant, more alive with many things to do, shopping, fine dining being on the top of the list. I think when coming to La Jolla one thinks about palm tree lined streets, the incredible coastline, fun and relaxation. I can't wait for the next few months to go by with anticipation of the finish of this newest project.
